Double Eyelid Surgery in Singapore Part 1

Disclaimer:  This post is purely my own experience and opinion. I spent my own money to get the surgery, not taking any commission to advertise for any company.  If you are keen to do any plastic surgery, please do your homework, go for a few doctor consultations to find a doctor you are comfortable with and one you can trust before doing the surgery.

Tata~ As the title says, I finally got my eyelids done! :)
Not an impulsive decision but one I thought about for years before deciding to take the plunge.
Also motivated by the current WFH situation, which provided me more time to heal (and gladly so, as you will find out in this post).

I think many people are not aware that I do not have natural double eyelids because I use double eyelid tape everyday.
However, my au naturel eyes are unfortunately 1 single and 1 double:

So, for the past 5-6 years, I have been using double eyelid tape on my right eye and it was so painful.
Although I found the best double eyelid tape in the market (invisible with my eyes open and sticks really well),  you can still see an unnatural line on my right eye where the tape is sticking whenever I blink or look down.
Compounded by the fact that I have oily skin and eyelids, usually before the day ends, the tape starts to lose it's stickiness and reflects light, which I have had colleagues or friends asking me: 'What is that on your eyelid?'  It is quite embarrassing.

There were a few times in the past few years that I have mastered the courage to call a plastic surgery clinic for a consultation, but I always back out before the consultation date.  Firstly, because of the higher costs doing PS in Singapore. Secondly, because I do not have the luxury of time to take weeks off to recuperate after surgery.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the above the 2 points had a resolution lol.
As we are all stuck in Singapore and not likely to travel anytime soon, I have managed to save quite a bit from travelling and diverted them to do the surgery haha
Also with the WFH situation, I only took one week off, and just recuperated at home while I waited for my eyes to heal.

So, in Dec last year, I called and arranged for a consultation with Dr Andrew Tay of The Plastic Surgery Practice.  And yes, I only consulted one doc and decided to do with him.  Why?

1) Before going to him, I read extensively on the internet & forums for the best double eyelid surgeons in SG and narrowed down to Dr Tay and Dr Shen.  The good result from double eyelid surgery girl (can just google her blog) made me decide to take the plunge.

2) I found his cost quite reasonable. Although the price has definitely increased from a few years back due to inflation and what not, it is still within my budget for the surgery.

After my consultation, I am even more determined to do the surgery with Dr Tay.  He is a very friendly and approachable surgeon who spent more than 30 mins with me during consultation to address all my queries and concerns, making me quite comfortable.
I also like the fact that he is not pushy about doing other surgeries haha. If you are going for perfection or maybe wants a more assertive doctor, then Dr Tay may not be the one for you. But if you are like me, knows what you want and just want it done by someone you can trust, you may consider arranging a consultation with Dr Tay.

To confirm the surgery date, I had to pay a 50% deposit of the entire surgery sum minimally 30 days before the date I chose, which was on 26 March 2021 (was banking on the fact that the following week was a 4 days work week, so I only had to take 4 days leave haha).

Total spent:

Consultation: $171.20 (with GST)
Surgery: $3,103.00 (with GST)

Will share on the surgery and recovery in Part 2~
