Double Eyelid Surgery in Singapore Part 2

Received some comments from my previous post on Double Eyelid Surgery
So I'm back to continue part 2!
Disclaimer: The surgery was paid fully by me and I am not endorsing plastic surgery nor the clinic/doctor that I did my surgery with.  Everything shared in this post are my own experience and opinion.

Double Eyelid Surgery Part 2

My surgery was set on 26 March, 9am and I had to fast (no food or drinks, a few sips of water is fine) approx. 8 hours before surgery.
The waiting before the surgery was quite nerve-wrecking, but Dr Tay and the clinic assistants were very professional and set me at ease.  Prior to the surgery, the clinic assistant went through the meds that I will be taking post-surgery:

Was given an eye drop, antibiotic cream to apply, pain killers and anti-bruising tablets (which proved insufficient for me as you'll see shortly)

Dr Tay took some pre-surgery photos of my eyes before laying me down to draw the height, the entire drawing session took about 20 mins? As he was very attentive and sat me up a few times to check in the mirror to ensure that it will be a height I like.
I wanted a 7mm height but after discussing with Dr Tay, we settled on 8mm instead.
Dr Tay advised for the height to be slightly higher as the eventual crease will be half of its sewn height after the swelling goes down.

After drawing, I was asked to lie down on the operation table and after the sedation tube was inserted into my vein, I was knocked out LOL.
Next thing I know, the surgery was done and I was led to another room and given an ice pack to ice my eyes while waiting for my dad to come fetch me.
Would STRONGLY recommend someone to fetch you home after surgery as your eyes will be quite swollen and likely you will feel really groggy from the sedation.

Without further ado, presenting the me after surgery:

The image above is my eyes from Day 1 - 4. On Day 1, I could barely open my eyes.
The crease was also SUPER high during the early stages of recovery.
I was icing my eyes 4 - 5 times a day during the first few days post-surgery.  And drinking a lot of pumpkin juice and eating pineapples.

By Day 7, bruises were clearly forming on my eyelids, especially on my right eyelid.
The bruising was worse on the eyelid that didn't have double eyelids originally.

Day 13 and the bruising is very obvious on my right eye.  I look like I got punched in the eye haha
At this stage, I had changed icing to applying a warm pack on my eyes 3 - 4x a day.
The bruising eventually faded by week 3, so it took approximately 3 weeks for my eyes to heal.
Which is extraordinarily long haha (luckily for WFH!)
But I would like to highlight that my skin/body bruises really easily, so the healing process and how long it takes to heal really depends on individual.

Dr Tay is a really responsible doc and I was going in for post-surgery consultation once a week before it became once every 3 weeks and then monthly post-surgery consultations.
During my first post-surgery consultation on Day 7, Dr Tay taught me to do eye exercises by looking up and firming up the crease nicely.

Day 30 post-surgery, taken during my 1-month consultation with Dr Tay.
The bruises have all healed and the crease height has dropped a lot.

Ending the post with a photo of my eyelids at close to 3 months post-surgery taken on 21 June!

Finally recovered and how my double eyelids look like with eyeliner and mascara.
Love the height of the crease with light eye makeup on.
Hope my experience helps to address any questions if anyone is researching on double eyelid surgery in Singapore.

时过境迁 物是人非

We went back to eat 'Signs a taste of Vietnam Pho' today to support their business in this period of CBv2.
The pho is still as nice, but the 2 of us and our relationship is no longer the same.
The first time we ate at the pho store, with the 2 of us getting to know each other.
Now, we know everything about each other, but we are no longer together.

Many times, others ask why don't we just get back together?
Since we are meeting so often and we enjoy each other's company.
I wonder too, many times.
Sometimes I wonder if I just take that extra step, is there a chance?
Other times, I enjoy our current now too much, that I don't want to break it.

I know things ended for a reason.
Just that once in the middle of laughters and acts of kindness from you, I think about how I once had a gem, how we once had a gem and it ended.

It ended. That's all I should remember.

Double Eyelid Surgery in Singapore Part 1

Disclaimer:  This post is purely my own experience and opinion. I spent my own money to get the surgery, not taking any commission to advertise for any company.  If you are keen to do any plastic surgery, please do your homework, go for a few doctor consultations to find a doctor you are comfortable with and one you can trust before doing the surgery.

Tata~ As the title says, I finally got my eyelids done! :)
Not an impulsive decision but one I thought about for years before deciding to take the plunge.
Also motivated by the current WFH situation, which provided me more time to heal (and gladly so, as you will find out in this post).

I think many people are not aware that I do not have natural double eyelids because I use double eyelid tape everyday.
However, my au naturel eyes are unfortunately 1 single and 1 double:

So, for the past 5-6 years, I have been using double eyelid tape on my right eye and it was so painful.
Although I found the best double eyelid tape in the market (invisible with my eyes open and sticks really well),  you can still see an unnatural line on my right eye where the tape is sticking whenever I blink or look down.
Compounded by the fact that I have oily skin and eyelids, usually before the day ends, the tape starts to lose it's stickiness and reflects light, which I have had colleagues or friends asking me: 'What is that on your eyelid?'  It is quite embarrassing.

There were a few times in the past few years that I have mastered the courage to call a plastic surgery clinic for a consultation, but I always back out before the consultation date.  Firstly, because of the higher costs doing PS in Singapore. Secondly, because I do not have the luxury of time to take weeks off to recuperate after surgery.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the above the 2 points had a resolution lol.
As we are all stuck in Singapore and not likely to travel anytime soon, I have managed to save quite a bit from travelling and diverted them to do the surgery haha
Also with the WFH situation, I only took one week off, and just recuperated at home while I waited for my eyes to heal.

So, in Dec last year, I called and arranged for a consultation with Dr Andrew Tay of The Plastic Surgery Practice.  And yes, I only consulted one doc and decided to do with him.  Why?

1) Before going to him, I read extensively on the internet & forums for the best double eyelid surgeons in SG and narrowed down to Dr Tay and Dr Shen.  The good result from double eyelid surgery girl (can just google her blog) made me decide to take the plunge.

2) I found his cost quite reasonable. Although the price has definitely increased from a few years back due to inflation and what not, it is still within my budget for the surgery.

After my consultation, I am even more determined to do the surgery with Dr Tay.  He is a very friendly and approachable surgeon who spent more than 30 mins with me during consultation to address all my queries and concerns, making me quite comfortable.
I also like the fact that he is not pushy about doing other surgeries haha. If you are going for perfection or maybe wants a more assertive doctor, then Dr Tay may not be the one for you. But if you are like me, knows what you want and just want it done by someone you can trust, you may consider arranging a consultation with Dr Tay.

To confirm the surgery date, I had to pay a 50% deposit of the entire surgery sum minimally 30 days before the date I chose, which was on 26 March 2021 (was banking on the fact that the following week was a 4 days work week, so I only had to take 4 days leave haha).

Total spent:

Consultation: $171.20 (with GST)
Surgery: $3,103.00 (with GST)

Will share on the surgery and recovery in Part 2~

Me after you

Extracting Wisdom

This is the longest break I have had since 2020 started - 5 days MC this week woohooo!~
Courtesy to my wisdom teeth extraction surgery.
It was kinda scary, but I must say my dentist did a great job as I didn't feel any pain after the anaesthesia wore off.

What have I been doing the past few days?
Honestly, 2020 has been all about work for me and the most ironic thing is, I'm not getting bonus this year for all the work I've done...
But life is difficult for everyone this year and I am so blessed that my family has not been affected much by the pandemic.
In fact, I would say we even became closer >.<
Nowadays, I enjoy talking and spending time with my dad for a few hours in the evening.

I've also not spent so much time at home since god knows when hahaha
Now I am such a homebody, something I never imagined I would become, just like many other things and thoughts that have changed over the past few months.

2020 has been such a major roller coaster, in every possible aspect.
I hope 2021 will be a much better year, for everyone.

突然发现,如果我们还在一起的话,今天是我们的2周年。
可惜,没如果。

Citizens' Workgroup

Most of the posts here are on my personal life but seldom do I share about my work

Although this year, most of my time is spent working haha..

This is my 3rd year in my current agency already and this year I worked the most and had a big portfolio that was shown in the news as well as POHs attending the last session of the event, which was finally done today!

Throughout the past 4 months (and way earlier when we started on this journey), it was such a long journey with our 50 to eventual 36 participants.

And the first time we did digital engagements via Zoom and Mural as well as holding physical sessions under COVID-19 regulations... it was so challenging omg.

Was the first time I did hybrid events too - via Zoom and live streaming on FB live. I learnt so much but the biggest take away is teamwork is the most important.  Honestly, throughout this entire journey I have had so much help and support from everyone else - ThinkPlace facilitators, my CEPD, media team mates, SFA resource persons, Subject Matter Experts that were invited and last but the most important - Vincent Koh, best supporting right hand man.

Today is not the end but the start of the end, and there is tons of work ahead for us to do.  BUT, for tonight, I can finally rest easy, with a thankful heart. :)
